Kathmandu valley rim mountain biking is an idyllic and relaxing mountain biking that introduces you the real Rural villages of Nepal apart from the hustle of the busy Kathmandu city. Kathmandu valley rim indicates the beautiful hills inhibited by rhododendron and pine forest, and traditional rural Nepali villages surrounding the valley. This Kathmandu Valley rim mountain biking takes you through the terraced farmlands, emerald hills, pristine forests of rhododendron and pine, traditional villages, sculptured temples and Gompas, and many more.
This mountain biking takes you to some of the famous historical cities like Basantapur, Bhaktapur, Patan filled with the artistic temples made up of stones and wooden sculptures. The hill station of Nagarkot which lies at the south east rim of the Kathmandu valley is one of the most famous mountain and sunrise view point near Kathmandu valley. This famous hill station offers the most spectacular view of the majestic mountain like Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal range, Gauri Shankar Himal including the Mt. Everest.
Kathmandu Valley rim mountain biking starts from the Sundarijal where we start cycling uphill through the rhododendron forest passing small farmlands until we meet the jeep track. We cycle uphill where we rest for a while in tea house and further cycling towards the Chisapani we enter the Helambu region. From here we cycle up to the Nagarkot. Chisapani and Nagarkot offer the breath taking view of the spectacular mountain range ranging from Gauri Sankhar to Annapurna. After observing the beautiful and inspiring scenery of mountain and sunrise we then cycle some of remarkable up and downhill to reach the famous monastery of Namobuddha. You also visit the golden farmland of historical city of Panauti where you visit some of traditional Newari village where you get to know the real lifestyle of rural Nepali people and their rich culture. Now we start cycling toward Godavari hill via one of the pass to enter Kathmandu valley called Lakure bhanjyang. Here in Godavari you can visit a Royal Botanical Garden. From Godavari we cycle back to Kathmandu via Hattibaan and en route you visit a famous Hindu temple of Dakshinkali.
This mountain biking is an exciting and challenging trip that takes you through the mixed single track, jeep tract and somewhere country road. Since the route is quiet demanding and technical it requires off road biking experience
Day 01: KATHMANDU TO CHISAPANI
we start cycling from Kathmandu to Sundarijal from where we cycle uphill. Cycling for an hour uphill we will reach a jeep track. Passing through small farmlands and villages, forests we enter the Helambu region. Here we stop in a tea house for short rest and cycling for almost 3 km from here will take us to Chisapani. We have now crossed out of the valley and here you will observe your first breathtaking views of the Himalayas, from Gauri Shanka in the east all the way to Annapurna in the west.
Day 02: CHISAPANI TO NAGARKOT
Today we follow the ridge and re trace route from here we follow the single track to Jhule where we take a small rest at teahouse for drinking and eating food. From here we descend down through the technical route and climb up for 7 km to reach the Nagarkot.
Day 03: NAGARKOT TO NAMOBUDDHA
Today we head from the Nagarkot we ride along the ridge passing the Rhonni bhanjyang and head down hill towards the Tamang villages. From here we head towards historical town of Dhulikhel. From here we climb up the Kavre bhanjyang riding uphill to reach the Namobuddha.
Day 04: NAMOBUDDHA TO GODAVAR VIA LAKURI BHANJYANG
Today early in the morning we explore the artistic of the monastery and experience the Buddhist culture where you remember the Buddhist chants then move to the historical city of Panauti. From Panauti we cycle into a steep sided valley, through the terraced rice fields and gradually climb upwards for 3 km towards the valley rim to reach the Godavari via a pass called Lakuri Bhanyjang.
Day 05: GODAWARI TO HATTIBAN VIA DAKSINKALI TEMPLE
Today we cycle around the base of the valley rim, passing through Chapagoan. Here you can visit an ancient temple hidden in the forest. From here we cycle up to a suspension bridge across a George and through the farmlands up towards the rim. From the rim we will have a fantastic downhill ride to the Bagmati River to reach the resort at Hattiban.
Day 06: HATTIBAN TO KATHMANDU
Today we will have a single track downhill ride through the jungle back down to Kathmandu Valley.
