Island Peak climbing also known as Imja Tse peak (6,189 m / 20,305 ft)  climbing is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal. Island peak climbing takes you to the summit of Himalayas at the height of 6,160 meters from the Sea level. This peak is a part of the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar with Cho Polu and Makalu lying to the east and Baruntse, Amphu and Ama Dablam lie to its south. The peak was named as Island peak by Eric Shipton's party in 1953, and later on in 1983, the peak was renamed as Imja Tse. This peak was so named as Island peak because the peak resembles an island in a sea of ice in the middle of the chhukung valley when viewed form Dingboche. Island peak was first summited by a British team while preparing for climbing Everest in 1953. In the team Tenzing Norgay was also one of the members who successfully ascended it.

Island peak climbing is not just a peak climbing but classic combination of the challenging peak climbing and rewarding trek to heart of Khumbu region. We trek all the way through the usual trail of Everest base camp trekking up to the Everest Base Camp (5,357 m / 17,575 ft). In the Base camp you take a day or two as resting day for acclimatizing yourself and prepare for climbing the peak. Imja Tse not only provides an enjoyable climb but also provides some of the most spectacular scenery of Himalayas in the Everest region. From the summit you can have close up view the towering mountains like Nuptse (7,879 m), Lhotse (8,501 m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410 m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383 m) making a semi circle in the north, Makalu (8475 m) in the east and Baruntse and Amadablam in the south which add more charm in climbing Island Peak. You also get to cross the less frequented Chola pass (5,420 m / 17,782ft) and Kongma La Pass (5,535 m / 18,159 ft) while ascending one of the most popular peaks in the Everest region.
