Sun Koshi River rafting is one of the classic and top ten white water rafting trip in the world positioned in Nepal. Sun Koshi River also indented by the "River of bullion" is fed by the flurry of Khumbu Region in high Himalayas. Sun Koshi River is the key tributary of the Sapta Koshi “the biggest ricer in Nepal” which is one of the major rivers of south Asia and eventually flows into the sacred river Ganges in India. The ever altering Scenery along side of the river and relaxing +3 rapid adds a new occurrence to the trip every day. Sun Koshi River rafting starts from the put in point in Dumja in substitute to Dolalghat which is in the 3 hours car drive space towards east from Kathmandu. In this rafting trip you will raft approximately 272 kilometer along the river until you reach the take out point at the plain of Chatara. This rafting trip originally passes through the high mountains and impressive steep Georges, terraced farmlands into the open valley, through the untouched subtropical forests and small remote villages. You stay somewhere in the side of these Jungles, villages and on the sandy bank of the river baked by the sun whole day for the night camping and pleasuring the wilderness. The rafting offers you the wonderful views of the Mahabharata ranges which are the range of the central Himalaya. Ahead of reaching the take out point in Chatara we also pass through one of the Holy Hindu site of Baraha Chettra holding a temple devoted to 12 Hindu god and goddess. From the temple the Mahabharata ranges and Rapcha range eventually alter in to the lowland of Terai. From Chatara we drive back to Dharan and take a bus to Kathmandu or Drive back to Birathnagar and take a flight to Kathmandu or extend your trip with other exotic tours to Chitwan National Park, Koshi Tappu Wildlife reserve or Pokhara.
Day 01: After having breakfast we drive for about 2 and half hour to Dolalgat and 3 hours raft and camp in Tarang Gaon.
Day 02: After having breakfast we start rafting from Tarang Gaon to Dumja village rafting for approximately 4 hours. As we raft forward we slowly leave the Langtang range behind and soon encounter a very technical rapid called Khuei Bhai rapid. This rapid is sprinkled with the rocks and large boulder. For night we camp near the Mahadev or lord Shiva temple.
Day 03: After having breakfast we start rafting from Dumja village to Khunkot rafting approx. 6 hours. As soon as we start the rafting we encounter two big rapids en route to the fishing village of Kodaris' and the Chamera Bhir. In chamera Viir you can see hundreds of bats shattering and clinging upside down to the wall of the cliff.
Day 04: After having breskfast we start rafting from Khurkot to Likhu Khola rafting approx. 5 hours. Today the day is quiet relaxing and you can take some photographs as you pass through the beautiful scenery and Rai villages.
Day 05: After having breakfast we start rafting from Likhu Khola to Harkapur village rafting approx. 6 hours. Today, we pass through deep gorges witness exciting rapids recounting pleasing floats in the afternoon. We can see the troops of Langur and Rhesus monkeys ramping in the riverbanks.
Day 06: After having breakfast we start rafting from Harkapur village to Rai Ghat rafting approx. 6 hours. This day is the most exciting and challenging days of the expedition where you witness some very demanding rapids like 'Bridge rapids' and 'Krishna rapids' stopping to carefully plan our strategy through the next rapids. Mr. Mangal Gurung was the first rafter who successfully took his rafts in 1979 and got the merit of being the 1st Nepali to raft the Sunkoshi, hence, the rapid is named after him 'MANGAL RAPID'. At the end of the Day you encounter the last rapid of the day, 'Roller Coaster' a hair rising rapid.
Day 07: After having breakfast we start rafting from Rai Ghat to Bander Ghat rafting approx. 6 hours. Today you encounter one of the most exhilarating rapid of the trip Hold with the record drop Huge 'holes', 'eddies' and churning 'stopper waves' that demands team work and hard paddle.
Day 08: After having breakfast we start rating from Bander Ghat to Bonjur Ghat rafting approximately. 6 hours emerging from the Mardheku gorge the river spreads wide, less agitated after its internment between steep cliffs and gorges.
Day 09: After having breakfast we start rafting from Bonjur Ghat to Baraha chhetra rafting approx. 6 hours. Today the day is mixed with fun filled rapids and calm rolling floats.
Day 10: After a short rafting you reach the take out point at Chatara, after lunch takes night bus to Kathmandu or drive to Biratnagar to take a flight back to Kathmandu.
