Helambu trek is a short and easy trekking expedition featuring unblemished Sherpa villages of the area, with many famous Buddhist monasteries, alpine forest, towering mountains and huge glaciers of the region. Helambu also called Sherpa land is situated at highland villages in Nepal located at about 72 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu. Helambu is well known for its artistic Monasteries, sweet apple, and delightful peoples of the region. After passing the challenging Lauribina la pass you feel the rich diversity, beautiful scenery and favorable climate of the Helambu region. This trek can be categorized as cultural trek other than the mountain and glacier expeditions as it reveals the unique and rich culture, traditions and lifestyle of the Tibetan like Sherpa people.
We start the Helambu trek from Sundarijal. From Sundarijal the trail takes us through Helambu as we climb the ridge of Shivapuri offering extensive views of the central Himalayas. The trail now ascend towards Chisapani and to Patibhanjyang which lying on a saddle at the bottom of the ridge at (1,770m.). From Patibhanjyang trail takes us all the way through the forested ridge & then descends to Kutumasang at (2,470m.) situated on a steep worn path more often covered with fir & rhododendron forest with no permanent settlements. The trail descends steeply down a ravine passing by changing vegetation from large firs, to oaks & rhododendron towards Mangengoth (3150m) and finally reaches Tharepati. From here you cross a stream on suspension bridge to reach the Melamchi Gaon (2530m). Melamchi Gaon is a Sherpa village with a beautifully crafted a Buddhist monasteries. From Melamchigaon, the trail continues to descend to the Melamchi River crossing the suspension bridge; and climbing up the other side of the valley will take you towards Tarkeghyang - picturesque village at 2550m, situated on a ridge high above the river. Tarkeghyang is the largest village in Helambu and the famous destination for the most trekkers in this region. From Tarkeghyang we then head forward to Shermathang (2621m). Shermathang is another beautiful Sherpa village inhibited with many ancient monasteries. This village also offers the clear and magnificent view of The Jugal Himal range from the north face. From here our trail descends gradually through the meadows and cultivated fields towards our final destination Melamchi Baazar. On our trekking trip we visit several age old villages with their peoples who have preserved their own particular tradition and reveal their own story. Our Helambu trek ends at Melamchi bazzar. From here we trek back to Kathmandu.
Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu (1310m). Upon your arrival we assist you from international airport to our hotel. Rest overnight.
Day 02: Today full day sightseeing and cultural tour around Kathmandu valley. Overnight at lodge.
Day 03: Today early morning ride from Kathmandu to sundarijal and then trek to Chisapani ( 2165m). O/ N hotel
Day 04: Trek from Chisapani to Golphu Bhanjyang / Kutumsang (2470m). O/ N hotel
Day 05: Trek from Kutumsang to Mangengoth (3420m). O/ N hotel
Day 06: Trek from Mangengoth to Thadepati (3690m). O/ N hotel
Day 07: Trek from Thadepati to Melamchi (2520m). O/ N hotel
Day 08: Trek from Melamchi village to Tarkegaying (2600m). O/ N hotel
Day 09: Trek from Tarkeghyang to Sermathang (2590m). O/ N hotel
Day 10: Trek from Sermathang to Kakani (1998m). O/ N hotel
Day 11: Trek from Kakani to Kathmandu or drive to Kathmandu by private or public transport. O/N hotel.
Day 12: Free Day in Kathmandu Evening will take Dinner together with Typical Nepali culture
Day 13: Departure from Kathmandu to your onward destination.
