Makalu Base Camp Trek (5,250 m) is one of the isolated yet remarkable and adventurous trekking routes in eastern Nepal. Makalu Base camp Trek is also a challenging trekking route that demands experience and physical fitness. This trekking trail takes you to the highest elevation of 5,100 meter from the sea level. The Makalu Base Camp lies under the conservation and consideration of Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area which accounts area of 2,330 sq. km for National Park and 830 sq. km for conservation area in Nepal alone.  The Barun Valley situated inside this conservation area is internationally protected area under the agreement between the governments of Nepal and China. The rich eco-system of the National Park preserves diverse variety of flora and fauna along with rare and endangered species within it.  

Makalu Base Camp Trek from Tumlingtar after we take a direct flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar. From tumlingtar our trekking trail heads towards Khadbari (1,040m). From here trail passes through the bamboo grooves and rhododendron forests to reach Chichila (1,830m). On the way to Num Camp (1,490m) the trail offers the most spectacular view of the snow capped mountain like Makalu and its surrounding peak. Heading a little forward our trial steeply descends passing through the Cornfield of Lumbang to reach Sedua Camp (1,460m). From this place our trail passes through meadows and several streams then climbs up to reach the beautiful Sherpa village of Tashi Gaon (2,070m). Moving forward we pass through several pristine forests of rhododendron village of Mumbuk (3,570m) from where we can observe a superb view of Chamlang (7,290 m) Peak 6 (6,739 m) and Peak 7 (6,105 m). Now the trekking trail takes you through the demanding path filled with rocky and sloppy mud leading up the glacial valley of huge open grassland offering the magnificent view of Peak 6. Nhe Kharka (3,000 m). Finally we trek up to our ultimate destination of Makalu Base Camp (5,000m)from here you can have a magnificent view of south face of Makalu and also, the complete panorama of Everest and Lhotse. We explore the base camp and trek back to Tumlingtar and from here we take a flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 19: We trek from Phukuwa to Bumling
